UK Apple Store Job Posting Hints at August iPhone 5, We Say It’ll Still Be September
There has been plenty of excitement over a job posting which appeared on a recruitment agency’s board this week, as it called for retail staff to join Apple outlets between the 16th August to the 29th October.  The exact wording made it even more interesting, as it specifically mentioned ‘iPhone sales staff’.
Well, you don’t need to be a ‘genius’ to reach the conclusion that certain Apple retailers are gearing up to handle an influx of customers, which logically points to a new product release.
It’s not just one retailer asking for staff either, as the opportunities are spread across the country, with many of the locations serviced only be an Apple reseller – Crawley for example – and not an actual Apple Store.
Although we’ve got no way of knowing yet, let’s assume for the sake of argument that these people are all needed to cope with the demand for the next generation iPhone.  What does the timing tell us about the potential release of the phone?  Well, aside from the obvious ‘between the end of August and beginning of October’, could Apple really be gearing up to launch their new phone before September?
We still say no, for exactly the same reasons as before, iOS 5 is coming in the fall, and lots of people are on holiday in August, not caring about mobile phones.  It would also be odd to not give at least two-weeks in-store training to new recruits before throwing them into the chaos of an iPhone launch, making the first week of September seem more likely.
What it could mean is we’ll see an Apple event to announce the new device very soon, perhaps even at the end of July.
