Apple Pushes out Xcode 4.1.1 Update, Fixing Installation Alert Issue
Apple has released Xcode 4.1.1 which is a small delta update that addresses an issue wherein during the installation process an alert is presented to the user to shut down iTunes. Even after iTunes is quit, the alert remains, and won’t go away until the iTunesHelper process is killed using Activity Monitor. No new features have been added in this release. [Read More]
Apple Releases QuickTime 7.7 Security Update
Apple has released QuickTime 7.7 updates for Mac OS X Leopard, and Windows XP, Vista and 7. The accompanying support document states that this update addresses 14 different security issues. [Read More]
Steve Jobs Still Very Much Involved at Apple, Even Though He’s Still on Sick Leave
The Loop is points to a report from Tim Bajarin, who states that even though he’s on sick leave, Steve Jobs is still very active in Apple’s affairs. He still regularly calls the top brass at Apple, but he doesn’t micromanage the company like he used to. Now, he’s talking with the execs, and allows them to execute on their collective plans. Apple Looking to Buy an Additional $5 Billion in Patents
Bloomberg is reporting that InterDigital is planning to sell off it’s patent portfolio which could fetch a price of $5 billion. These patents outline technology for high-speed mobile phone networks, and are used by some of the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturers. So whoever owns these patents, could be making a lot of money in licensing. [Read More]
Apple Taking Legal Action Against Fake Apple Stores
After the internet brought China’s fake Apple Stores to the public eye, Apple has now filed suit against some 50 different defendants, most of which are John Does and unmanned businesses. The case is still under court seal, so no specifics are known at this time. [Read More]
